Santorini Brewing Company
A Serbian brewer, an English wine merchant and home-brewing enthusiast, a multi-talented American and a Greek oenologist and wine-maker make up the multicultural line-up of the Santorini Brewing Company. The Donkey microbrewery was founded in 2011 at the traditional settlement of Mesa Gonia-Santorini. It combines the water of this volcanic island with carefully selected malts from Germany and Austria and truly rare hops from New Zealand, Oregon, the Czech Republic and Slovenia with yeasts from Belgium and the US to create unique beer bearing the donkey logo.
Wild. With an International Bittering Unit (IBU) of 19, it is undoubtedly the teenager in the group. Exotic hops from New Zealand, Oregon and Slovenia add their aroma and a slightly bitter dimension to this thirst-quenching blond beer.
Round, aromatic and dense. Hops from Slovenia and New Zealand are combined over a sub-layer of Munich malt to give an IBU of 26. A little bitter but it hides it well. Certainly a special dinner beer, best served in a large, tall wine glass to highlight its explosively aromatic character.
Crazy Donkey was not supposed to exist, but here it is. It is the first thoroughbred India Pale Ale to be made in Greece. Large quantities of malt create an explosive aromatic character and full-bodied flavour with an IBU approaching 50! A rare dinner beer, with the behaviour of a select red wine! Only for aficionados.
White Donkey is a very unexpected and distinct Weiss beer. It is produced from equal amounts of wheat & barley malt and a rare hops mixture that includes Galaxy from Eastern & Western Australia, Austrian Styrian Golding and some others that you will allow us not to reveal ...
Fresh taste with "nerve" acidity and exotic citrus flavors that dominate over a relatively bitter finish- for a Weiss -
It is produced seasonally in very small quantities.
A new refreshing, fruity & pepper Lager based on Mandarina Bavaria hops. This beer is the result of the collaboration of two microbreweries sharing the same brewing philosophy. The Brewery of Santorini has developed this stunning recipe, while Austria's Flecks Microbrewery has taken over its execution. So a Lager has emerged as you have never seen it!
Drink it and forget your thirst !
